Knicks Vs. Celtics Game Review:

The following passage is by Koron Pierre AKA THE OBJECTIVE FAN:

The Knicks failed in their efforts to foil the Celtics and their celebration on championship ring night. Everything that could go wrong went wrong and the Knicks were not ready to take on the defending champions. Succumbing to the pressure on the road in front of a hostile crowd.

Here are my 4 notable:

  1. Not enough switching on defense!

The Boston Celtics offense is geared towards knocking down three's. Everyone in their lineup can set or use a screens, pass , and knock down the three ball. Clearly switching wasn't on the menu because they barely did it and Mikal and OG were struggling to get through screens all night.

  1. Unnecessary double teams!

Because the Knicks refused to switch they found themselves helping out a lot, especially in areas where they didn't need to. A good example of this was when they double Hortford early in the game. 18 feet out along the baseline with his back to the basket. He had  no where to go and to make matters worst the possession ended in a four. The unnecessary help also helped the Celtics ball movement while creating more opportunities for open shots.

  1. The New Substitution Pattern!

While I understand the desire to separate Brusnon and Towns, keeping one of them on the floor to help sustain your offensive efficiency, they need a lot more time together to get. They need more opportunity to establish the pick-and-roll game and on the floor compatibility. Let's see what Thibs decides to do Friday against the Pacers

  1. They need more time!

This was one of takeaways from the pre season. You can see that they are still learning each other tendencies and where they are comfortable on the floor. This loss shouldn't detract from your optimism as a Knick,  because the potential is there and the Knicks have a good team, it may take longer than we thing it should take.

MORE ABOUT THIS KNICKS CELTIC GAME!

Husband’s shocking letter to wife goes viral — and you’ll never guess how it ends: ‘I gave you almost 12 years of my life’

"The Celtics’ blowout of the Knicks led the way with a 1.6 and 3.01 million, marking the most-watched early window on Opening Night since 2017, when Celtics-Cavaliers drew 5.60 million. Across both windows, it was the most-watched since Lakers-Warriors two years ago (3.55M). Ratings increased a tick and viewership 6% from Lakers-Nuggets last year (1.5, 2.84M). The Timberwolves-Lakers nightcap drew a 1.6 and 2.91 million, up a tick and 7% respectively from Suns-Warriors a year ago (1.5, 2.71M). The Lakers’ win peaked with 3.5 million viewers during the 10:30 PM ET quarter-hour, exceeding the early game peak of 3.2 million. It should be noted that viewership peaked before Lakers draft pick Bronny James — son of LeBron — took the court at around 11 ET."

Mikal Bridges alleged broken jump shot!

"He also had discussed tinkering with his shot while shooting 2 of 19 from 3-point range in the preseason.  “When you think about it logically, I think where we are today, with social media, everybody wants to have an opinion on everything,” Tom Thibodeau said. “And yet the guy who’s doing the work every day, when you watch him work, you know how much he puts into it, and then his body of work.  “No one is gonna shoot great for 82 games. Oftentimes, you’re in preseason and just trying to work through things and get in a rhythm, and you’re trying to figure out a new system and new teammates. And each day, that gets better and better. But if you think logically, this guy has shot almost 38 percent from 3 for his career. Me, I’d bet on that.”

Josh Hart Fit

Any lingering concern about Josh Hart’s preseason — when he scored just two total points and said he felt “lost” on offense — had all but evaporated by the time he stood in the Knicks locker room after their win Friday, tilted his head in between questions to catch glimpses of the World Series game and joked about his past comment. “I was just having fun with y’all, man,” Hart, who scored 20 points against the Pacers in the Knicks’ 123-98 home-opening win. “I knew I was going to be solid. It was preseason. I have a good feel for everybody. I think we’re all really getting into a rhythm offensively and, more importantly, defensively — playing with each other, seeing where everyone likes the ball and those kind of things. I’m good.”

"ON THE SURFACE, New York’s Brunson-led offense was elite last season. The Knicks ranked seventh in efficiency and saved their best performances for last, notching the league’s third-rated attack in the month of April. Brunson himself logged a career-high 28.7 points and 6.7 assists on the season, even though he had to work harder than just about anyone in the NBA to buy himself space from one play to the next. Without the injured Randle available as a second option, Brunson dribbled the ball more and for longer per touch than any player in the league and served as the ball handler for an NBA-high 3,224 on-ball screens last season."
