On March 20, 2025, the New York Knicks suffered their second consecutive defeat, losing 115-98 to the Charlotte Hornets at Spectrum Center. Following a tough game in San Antonio, the Knicks once again struggled to find their rhythm against a Charlotte team that has one of the worst records in the league.

Sluggish Start, Inconsistent Effort

From the very beginning, the Knicks displayed a lack of energy, trailing 27-19 after the first quarter. Their offense was disjointed, and the defense failed to contain Charlotte's perimeter shooters as well as their inside threats. Although the Knicks managed to win the rebounding battle, their poor shooting and defensive lapses proved to be insurmountable.

Standout Performers

OG Anunoby led the Knicks with 25 points, six rebounds, and two assists, demonstrating continued effort despite the team's struggles. Karl-Anthony Towns contributed with a double-double, posting 24 points and 10 rebounds, making him the team's most consistent offensive player. For the Hornets, LaMelo Ball directed the offense with 25 points and eight assists, while Mark Williams dominated in the paint with 19 points and 14 rebounds.

Team Stats Breakdown

Despite a solid performance on the boards, the Knicks were undone by their lack of shooting efficiency and failure to defend against the perimeter shots. The Hornets capitalized on open looks throughout the game and played with greater urgency.

Postgame Reflections

Josh Hart expressed frustration in the locker room after the game, citing the team's overall lack of energy and focus. Head coach Tom Thibodeau echoed these thoughts, calling attention to defensive breakdowns and a general absence of assertiveness as crucial factors in the loss.

What’s Next?

With a record of 43-26, the Knicks aim to regroup as they return home to face the Washington Wizards. With Jalen Brunson's return on the horizon, New York will need to quickly rediscover the intensity and chemistry that have defined their best performances this season.
