Knicks Dominate Kings, Snap Three-Game Skid in Style

The New York Knicks returned to winning ways in emphatic fashion, dismantling the Sacramento Kings 133-104 on March 10, 2025. This victory not only ended a three-game losing streak but also marked the Knicks' first win without star point guard Jalen Brunson, who is currently sidelined with a sprained ankle.

Strong Start Sets the Tone

From the opening tip, the Knicks asserted their dominance. Miles "Deuce" McBride, stepping into the starting lineup in place of Brunson, set the pace early. McBride started the game a perfect 5-for-5 from the field, finishing with 21 points on an efficient 7-of-11 shooting, along with seven assists. His energy and shot-making were instrumental in the Knicks' explosive 37-22 run in the first quarter, setting the tone for the rest of the game.

By halftime, New York established a 15-point lead. They didn’t let up after the break, extending their advantage to 26 points by the end of the third quarter. The Knicks' offensive rhythm was highlighted by a remarkable shooting performance from beyond the arc, as they connected on 22 of 40 three-point attempts, tying their season-best.

Balanced Scoring and Defensive Intensity

Karl-Anthony Towns led the scoring with 26 points and nine rebounds, effectively controlling the paint and stretching the floor. OG Anunoby also had a standout performance, posting 24 points, a career-high eight assists, seven rebounds, and four steals. His defensive tenacity and all-around play were crucial in disrupting the Kings' rhythm.

Josh Hart contributed 18 points, rediscovering his shooting touch by hitting 4-of-6 from three-point range. The collective effort saw all starters score in double figures, reflecting a cohesive team performance. On defense, the Knicks were sharp, with Anunoby’s four steals illustrating their intensity and focus.

Coach Thibodeau and Team Adaptation

Following the game, head coach Tom Thibodeau emphasized the team’s collective approach to compensating for Brunson's absence: "The challenge is you're not going to replace Jalen individually. We understand that. We have to do it collectively," Thibodeau stated.

Towns also discussed the team's strategic adjustments, saying, "When teams put smaller defenders on me, it's about taking advantage of those mismatches in the post. And when they overcommit, we have guys like Josh [Hart] and OG ready to make them pay from the outside."

What’s Next for the Knicks?

With this win, the Knicks improved to 41-23 on the season, building crucial momentum as they head into the next phase of their Western Conference road trip. Up next, they face the Portland Trail Blazers in what promises to be another test of their depth and resilience.

This victory not only solidifies the Knicks' position in the Eastern Conference standings but also sends a clear message about their adaptability and depth. Even without their floor leader, the Knicks demonstrated they can come together as a team and deliver when it matters most.
